Street Scene Bearsden
Two site specific films have been created by artist Graeme Roger, for Kirkintilloch and Bearsden.
‘Streetscene Bearsden’ has been created using footage from the archives of the National Library of Scotland. Spanning from 1913 to the 1980s, the archive film is in itself a portrait of the town and its people. Selected material relating to Bearsden was researched and used alongside contemporary filmed portraits of local people, openly invited to come along and be filmed, giving representation to the many unique characteristics of local people and life. New observational film of landmarks and places directly around where the artwork is sited, combined with pipe bands, highland dancers and large-scale local portraits, fulfil the artist’s intention to remind us that ‘life is for looking at’.
