TW-08 Railway Remains
Twechar Station lay on the Kelvin Valley Railway Line, which ran from Kilsyth to Maryhill. There were also stations at Torrance and Balmore. There was a central workshop, wagon repair shop and ‘pug’ shed located at Twechar. On industrial railways such as this one, the small steam engines used for shunting were referred to as ‘pugs’ and the trucks or wagons as ‘tugs’.
