Torrance Station, Kelvin Valley Line

The Kelvin Valley Railway was run by North British Railway. Locomotive number 256 Glen Douglas provided a daily service from Torrance to Glasgow via Balmore, Summerston, and Maryhill. There was one train in the morning and one train at 5pm. To travel by train was expensive. The last passenger train to Torrance was in April 1960. Torrance railway station opened in 1896. Goods trains continued to use the Kelvin Valley line to test new trains. The railway station in Torrance was kept very tidy. The station won several awards for its lovely gardens.
