BA-03 St Matthews Church
St Matthew’s Church began life in the aftermath of WWII. Created in 1946, it was one of 5 new parishes. It contains a frieze by Benno Schotz (1891-1984), an Estonian-born Scottish sculpter known for his portraiture. In the 1950s, small repairs as well as design work for a new altar & tabernacle were made by prominent Scottish architecture firm Gillespie, Kidd & Coia.
