MG-02 Colpis Ice Cream

Mrs Colpi (far right)

Colpi’s Ice Cream shop has been at its current location on Main Street, Milngavie since 1928, making it one of Milngavie’s oldest businesses and a local institution. Started by Rodolfo Colpi, an Italian immigrant, the business remains a traditional Italian family run ice cream parlour.
The ice cream is made from an unchanged 100 year old family recipe, using unpasteurised milk from a dairy farm near Loch Lomond and contains no chemicals, additives or colouring.
Although the shop remains in the same location, the business has expanded over the years with a second store opening in Clydebank in 1990. The organic food chain Wholefoods began selling Colpi ice cream in 2013 in their Glasgow store after it passed their food quality tests. It can now be found on sale in many other local shops and delis.
