MG-04 The Black Bull & Town Clock

Black Bull Hotel, Milngavie

The Black Bull
If you have followed the Milngavie Heritage Trail up Main Street, you will have walked passed the site of the Black Bull Hotel. Only the façade remains now as the entrance to the M&S Foodhall, however this had been a coaching inn since 1827. During alterations in 1961 a well was found in the courtyard of the hotel, which some believed was from the Roman era.

Milngavie Town Clock
Now a familiar meeting point, the Milngavie Town Clock was installed here in 1981. Originally, it had hung outside the Copland and Lye department store in Caledonia House on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, and was donated to Milngavie Town Council after the store closed in the 1970s.
