Scottish Council on Archives

I took part in a training event on the 26th of November with Scottish Council on Archives, organised by Douglas Roberts, Education Development Officer. The audience for the Trails and Tales presentation was a group of Archivists and Archive and Museum Trainees from a wide range of organisations and settings. The group are keen to give their archives exposure and to engage with people, communities and other organisations. We spoke about the benefits of working with artists through socially engaged practice and the ways in which archive material can be interpreted creatively to engage new audiences. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day with lots of insightful discussion. We think every archive needs an artist in residence to help make connections between people, place, events, stories and objects in interesting and new ways bringing archives to life… Watch this space…..
