About:

Lucinda is a graduate from Wimbledon School of Art and Glasgow School of Art where she obtained in Sculpture a BA Hons degree in Fine Art and a Post graduate Diploma. Much of her sculpture is inspired from the landscape looking at rhythms and dimensions, the energy of the land.

In 2009, representing Scotland during International Polar Year she produced Mosaic of Antarctica vibrant glass engravings of the Antarctic, documenting climatic environmental changes to this beautiful landscape. Collaborating with scientists, the visual imagery was transcripted from satellite data showing the translucence of melting ice from the region’s ice shelves, glaciers and sea ice. A visual recording of environmental changes lost to time, which, is archived at the British Map Library in London.

Lucinda has worked extensively as a community artist, collaborating with groups and individuals to produce ambitious artworks which enhance the surrounding environment. Her practice has been dedicated to the pursuit of sculpture and accessibility of sculpture in the community, making and developing work in many geographical contexts – Newcastle upon Tyne, Glasgow, London and Northern Spain. Working as an Artist in residence she offers accompanying workshop activities which engage access to the language of sculpture.
