About:

Dug MacLeod is a Garden Designer and landscaper based in Edinburgh, who has specialised in the sustainable re-use of materials within the landscape. From modern city gardens to wild and rugged coastal landscapes, retaining what already exists is a key aspect of any design and construction process. Further studies on taking an increasingly sympathetic approach to the landscape have led to an MSc in Environmental decision making.

This naturalistic approach to designing garden landscapes has led to working with television’s Beechgrove Garden as designer for Community garden projects in Aberfeldy, St Ronans Well Innerleithen and The Scottish Mining Museum in Newtongrange. It has also led to receiving Best in show awards at Scotland’s national garden show (Gardening Scotland), as well as numerous articles in national publications featuring this sustainable approach to creating new landscapes.Sculpture and natural materials play an important part in the design process, and in particular how best to incorporate these into the new landscape to the benefit of all inhabitants – which may include a few extra Hostas just to keep the snails happy!”
