About

Artist: Marion Smith
First we will visit the exhibition . A History of East Dunbartonshire in 110 objects, in the exhibition you will get the opportunity to choose your favorite objects and sketch them.In the casting workshop you will roll out a slab of clay and then transfer your choice of sketch onto the clay slab, you can then use tools and materials provided such as cord, corrugated cardboard, buttons and lace to press into the damp clay, using lines and textures to create a version of your sketch. All of the materials are removed leaving an impression in the clay, you then build strong clay walls around your work and pour liquid plaster on top. In about fifteen minutes the plaster will set like stone and you are left with your relief art work .
