Rachel Mimiec

Rachel Mimiec is a Glasgow-based artist whose work encompasses self directed initiatives and collaborative community projects. Underlying themes in her studio practice include landscape, nature and survival. Rachel often works with designers, writers and drama practitioners in education contexts, as well as undertaking public artwork research and projects relating to creative spaces and play. Her current work with people often explores narratives inspired by objects, memories and journeys. In a recent residency with Scottish Natural Heritage, Rachel engaged with communities who walk, work and climb in the National Scenic Areas of Ben Nevis and Glen Coe. A box set of abstract prints that took the form of maps was produced as a result of this engagement. The maps were then distributed to individuals and organisations that participated in the project.
